The Dance of Colors on Water: Cultures Meet in Kartepe with Erasmus+
The Dance
of Colors on Water: Cultures Meet in Kartepe with Erasmus+
Project Name:
[The Invisible Face of Media]
Countries:
Türkiye, Romania, Portugal, Poland
Introduction:
Building a Bridge from Digital to Traditional
The Erasmus+ program offers a cross-border
vision, proving that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our students
from Türkiye, Romania, Portugal, and Poland, united under the main theme of Media
Literacy, learned to decode the complex messages of the digital world while
also experiencing the powerful force of intercultural interaction. During our
mobility in Türkiye, we took an unforgettable break from this digital journey
with an ancient art form: Ebru (Marbling Art). This specific activity
became a tangible reflection of our project's core values: cultural
diversity, solidarity, and inclusiveness.
Ebru: The
Aquatic Harmony of Cultural Diversity
The Ebru workshop, guided by the dedicated staff
of Kartepe Municipality, was a truly magical experience for our students.
This unique art form, where colors spread across the water's surface and blend
without losing their individual identity, served as the most beautiful
metaphor for the Erasmus+ spirit.
Many of our foreign students were seeing Ebru for
the very first time. With eyes full of wonder, curiosity, and excitement, they
lined up to try the art themselves. The moment the paint dropped from the brush
and bloomed on the water became a universal source of awe and joy, transcending
language barriers. A pattern created by a Portuguese student beautifully
harmonized with the brushstroke of a Polish student, mirroring the seamless
collaboration of our project partnership.
Moments of
Solidarity and Integration
This activity was more than just an artistic
pursuit; it was a strong example of solidarity. Students watched each
other's attempts, encouraged friends whose hands were shaking, and supported
one another to achieve the best result. These shared moments revitalized the
core philosophy of Media Literacy—co-creating and understanding together—on
a traditional and tactile platform.
When the dried works were presented to the
students as gifts, each participant took back to their home country not just a
tangible piece of art, but also a warm memory from Türkiye and a profound
sense of satisfaction derived from shared creativity. The fact that the
students chose to immortalize their happiness with photographs is the finest
evidence of the friendships forged and the cultural richness shared.
Conclusion: A
Legacy of Friendship
As our Erasmus+ mobility reaches its final stage,
this cultural immersion has left a profound mark on the participants. Ebru
art demonstrated the true purpose of our project: how individuals from
different cultures can create a collective "masterpiece" together, in
harmony, while preserving their unique identities. While deepening our
awareness of Media Literacy, it also reminded us of the importance of embracing
our human and cultural values.
This project did not merely bring together
students from four European nations; it was a concrete step towards building a
stronger and more unified European spirit through the souls united by
colors dancing on water.
